Alex Hansell, Ph.D.

Alex joined GMRI in January of 2020 where he is a postdoctoral researcher; whose research focuses on investigating the spatio-temporal distribution of Atlantic bluefin tuna catches to understand the effects of changing ocean conditions on bluefin spatial distribution and abundance.

Along with a B.S. in Biology from Northeastern University and a Ph.D. in Fisheries Oceanography from University of Massachusetts Dartmouth School for Marine Science and Technology, Alex brings the following experience with him: conducting fieldwork, collaborating with industry, and using quantitative techniques to analyze large data sets to answer important fisheries science questions.
