Kyle Garvey joined GMRI in the fall of 2019 as Leadership Giving Program Manager. In his role, Kyle is focused on building and growing relationships and financial support from individuals through strategic gifts to support GMRI’s interdisciplinary approach to Science, Education, and Community. Kyle’s work to support GMRI’s programs includes working with individuals, events, GMRI committee members, and the Wind Rose Society of the GMRI Annual Fund.
Kyle is passionate about GMRI’s work to create collaborative solutions to global ocean challenges. The ocean is an incredibly important natural resource; knowing that GMRI’s work is leading to solutions to preserve the long term health of the Gulf of Maine and that GMRI is committed to thoughtful and nuanced recommendations to enhance Maine’s fishing communities while protecting Maine’s fisheries is what makes Kyle excited to come to work every day.
Kyle began his career in Boston, MA where he moved after graduating from Trinity College, CT. He brings 15 years of strategic fundraising experience at major Boston institutions to GMRI. The bulk of Kyle’s career was spent at Harvard Business School and Harvard Law School and he has also worked at the MIT Sloan School of Management and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. When he’s not working Kyle can be found playing hockey or enjoying a Boston Bruins game or spending time with his wife and two young children at the beach, on a hike, or on the ski slopes. Kyle also enjoys shucking and eating as many Damariscotta River oysters as possible.
