Rachel joined GMRI in January of 2016. As Donor Engagement Specialist, she coordinates GMRI’s public and private events which range from informational tours and lectures to donor dinners and excursions. She supports efforts to grow and strengthen GMRI’s donor base in partnership with the Donor Relations Manager and the rest of the development team.
A native Pennsylvanian, Rachel attended Eastern University where she received a B.A. in Communications with a Spanish minor and a M.A. in International Community Development. With a love for Latin America and sustainable, community-led initiatives, she has lived and worked with non-profits in Bolivia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Philadelphia. Prior to joining GMRI, Rachel worked with Safe Passage as the Associate Director of Development. She brings a strong understanding of both program management and donor stewardship.
Glad to now call Maine her home, Rachel uses her spare time to read, practice yoga, and enjoy nature. She loves exploring Portland’s restaurant scene and spending time with her family. Passionate about education and helping others, she also volunteers by helping asylum seekers and other Portland newcomers.
