The program will relaunch with a discussion of Maine’s aquaculture landscape, as we invite local mussel, oyster, and kelp farmers in to discuss this growing industry alongside our staff experts.
GMRI staff experts will provide an overview of aquaculture in Maine. The overview will cover key species such as oysters, mussels, and kelp, aquaculture leases, industry obstacles, and the role of our organization.
We'll be joined by Abigail Carroll, who owns and operates NONESUCH OYSTERS and OYSTER LADY SKIN CARE, two Maine companies celebrating the food, travel & wellness potential of the Maine coast. A Maine native, Abigail holds an undergraduate degree in French and Spanish Literature from Barnard College, as well as a Master’s Degree in International Affairs from Columbia University. Prior to becoming an oyster farmer Abigail spent over a decade in Paris, France trading stocks, working in start-ups, writing, and cultivating her interest in food and wine. Abigail is a third generation Maine entrepreneur.
Guests will have an opportunity to connect and enjoy complimentary beverages during a brief reception starting at 5:30.
