Join us Tuesday, July 14 for a sampling event celebrating responsibly harvested seafood. This two-part event will begin in front of the Belfast Co-op with a cooking demonstration and tasting. Co-op chefs will prepare lemon butter redfish and blackened pollock, and will be available for questions. Feeling inspired to embark on your own culinary adventures? The Co-op will also be offering a 10% discount on Gulf of Maine Responsibly Harvested redfish and pollock in-store all day.
Following the demonstration, we'll head across the street to the Belfast Library where James Benson, GMRI Sustainable Seafood Project Manager, will give a talk on Seafood and Fisheries in the Gulf of Maine. The global seafood industry is highly complex and we sit amongst one of the most productive marine ecosystems on the planet. In his presentation, he’ll discuss seafood sustainability and cover some regional case studies that lend evidence to a changing environment, fluctuating species abundances, and the impacts on local communities.
