Trawl to Table
8:30 am to 4:30 pm
This event is by invitation only.
Are you concerned about seafood sustainability? Do you wonder about fishing practices, or how to source more seafood from the Gulf of Maine region?
Please join the Gulf of Maine Research Institute for a unique gathering with players from every step of the seafood supply chain. This day is an opportunity for fishermen, suppliers, and seafood buyers (chefs, retailers, institutions) to learn from each other about the different factors at play in harvesting, buying, and selling seafood.
The day will include:
- Fishermen demonstrating how trawl gear and gillnets operate,
- The latest efforts to improve the impact, efficiency, and selectivity of fishing gear,
- Tours of local seafood processing facilities, and
- Discussion around sourcing more seafood from our region's fisheries.
The success and potential of our region's seafood industry is closely tied to the purchasing decisions of chefs, institutions, and retailers. This gathering will provide an opportunity for dialogue about the challenges, as well as the potential, of maintaining a strong regional fishing and seafood economy.
Space for this event is limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please RSVP soon to reserve your spot.
This event is hosted by the Gulf of Maine Research Institute, with funding from the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation.
