Sea State Lectures
7:00 pm to 8:00 pm
Join us for the first session of our Fall 2017 Joan M. Kelly Sea State Lecture Series, "Debunking Ocean Myths."
Throughout the series, our speakers will challenge some of the commonly held beliefs associated with their areas of expertise. Our journey begins with GMRI Research Scientist, Steve Eayrs.
Join us in August to hear his talk, "The Truth About Trawling: Are Bottom Trawls the Bulldozers of the Sea?" Steve is an Australian scientist who began his career as a fisherman in Australia, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia, before moving into research. Steve joined the GMRI team in 2007. He leads efforts to develop environmentally-friendly fishing gear, working collaboratively with fishermen and other stakeholders.
This is a free event open to the public. Register early; seating is limited. To register, please fill out the form below.
