A new online tool to view weather and climate trends is now available from the Northeastern Regional Association of Coastal and Ocean Observing Systems (NERACOOS).
The NERACOOS Ocean and Weather Climate Display Tool delivers information about average weather and ocean conditions measured at buoys in the Northeast between 2001 and 2012. The display enables comparisons between last year, last month, or even yesterday to the average conditions from the past decade.
The data in the display come from NERACOOS-supported buoys that are deployed throughout the Northeast and have been collecting weather and ocean data for over 10 years. The interactive charting tool allows users to toggle between buoys, data types, and time periods. Additionally, all the data that are used to create the charts is available for download.
The daily and monthly averages are updated regularly, and new data will be added as they become available from the NERACOOS data providers.
Data are provided by buoy groups from the University of Maine and the University of Connecticut, as well as the Northeast Fisheries Science Center. The GMRI Ocean Data Products team developed the interactive display.
