Laura Lano

Laura came to GMRI in January 2020 where, as a Labventure Educator, she guides 5th and 6th graders from all over Maine through an interactive science experience where they learn about connections in the Gulf of Maine.

Prior to GMRI, Laura was a naturalist at The Wild Center, a natural history center in the Adirondack Park of New York where she engaged with visitors of all ages through live animal encounters, naturalist walks, guided canoe trips, and climate science programming. In addition, she has also worked as an outdoor educator in both California and Australia. She is a Wilderness First Responder, a New York Certified Guide and a National Certified Interpretive Guide.

Laura earned her bachelor's degree in Geography from Penn State University, where she minored in Environmental Studies and studied abroad in Peru and Iceland. Originally from New Jersey, she loves traveling and exploring the outdoors through hiking, climbing, and bird watching. She's excited to have Maine next on her exploration list.
