Chefs, Fishermen Connect at GMRI

Restaurateurs and fishermen gathered at GMRI on June 26 for Trawl to Table, a full-day event tracing the path that seafood takes on the way to dinner plates.

The event fostered personal relationships among members of the supply chain and drove better understanding of how their livelihoods connect. Attendees engaged in fishing gear demonstrations, quality handling training, sustainability presentations, and tours of a fish auction and a processing facility.

"I have a better understanding of the local fishing industry and the efforts to preserve the Gulf resources," said one restaurateur.
