Anyone can now create a PowerHouse account and use the site to investigate their home energy usage. This change is part of a major site upgrade that brings new accessibility and new tools to empower better home energy management.
For the last three years, we have worked with a select group of students and teachers to develop powerhouse.gmri.org and its educational framework. Now, most Central Maine Power customers can use the site to examine their home electricity usage and analyze its associated carbon emissions.
We also launched several features that are available to everyone. A new home inventory tool enables users to profile their electricity usage and identify opportunities for savings. And new discussion forums allow anyone to create communities for sharing.
“By connecting with their families, friends, and neighbors, students can leverage what they’re learning to have a significant impact in their communities,” said Gayle Bodge, PowerHouse program manager.
