Brianne Fagan

Marketing Manager

Bri joined GMRI as a Marketing Manager in 2023, where she quickly set to work developing GMRI’s inaugural marketing program. Her focus is on developing a strategic approach to expand awareness and engagement with GMRI, reaching new and diverse audiences who are motivated to support the organization's impactful work.

Originally from western New York (go Bills!), Bri ventured to the east coast to attend Stony Brook University, where she graduated with a Bachelor’s in Environmental Science, and later obtained a Master’s in Conservation Biology from Antioch University New England. While completing her graduate degree, Bri launched and served as Editor of the environmental studies departmental newsletter and assisted with research projects focused on bycatch reduction in the Gulf of Maine groundfish fishery and shark ecology and conservation in the Bahamas.

Passionate about science communication, she worked as a Communications Assistant at Wells National Estuarine Research Reserve and later as a Science Writer at a global academic publishing company, Cell Press/Elsevier, in Boston. Most recently before joining GMRI, Bri moved into a Marketing Manager role at Cell Press/Elsevier, where she honed her communications and marketing skills, taking a data-driven approach to improve the experience of authors across a diversity of research disciplines, countries, and career stages.

Outside of work, you might find her at a brewery-hosted road race, trying desperately to get swol biceps at the climbing gym, or eating more food than anyone else at the table at one of Portland’s countless irresistible restaurants.
