Sylvia Bosco

Grant Writer

Sylvia joined GMRI in January of 2024. She works with the development team on corporate and foundation fundraising, specifically prospect research, proposal writing, grant reporting, and data management.

Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, Sylvia moved to Maine in 2017 and quickly fell in love with the coast. She received her bachelor’s degree from Bowdoin College, where she studied English and Environmental Studies. Before joining GMRI, Sylvia worked in academic administration, operations, and communications roles at various educational institutions and nonprofit organizations. She’s also completed a writing residency at the Bowdoin Scientific Station on Kent Island, which stoked her interest in science writing and environmental advocacy.

In her spare time, Sylvia can be found reading, writing, taking long walks along Portland’s Eastern Prom, and playing hard-core strategy games like Go, Chess, and Stardew Valley.
