David Tabor
Aquaculture Project Manager
David is the Aquaculture Project Manager at GMRI, having joined the team in February 2026. His work focuses on supporting and building capacity for the Maine Aquaculture Apprenticeship Program, where he works directly with aspiring aquaculturists looking to begin their careers and the partner ocean farms supporting this effort.
Prior to joining GMRI, David received his B.S. in Marine Biology from UMaine at Machias with a focus on marine fisheries. He then moved to California to work in marine science education with the Catalina Island Marine Institute and Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography and ran a successful aquaculture education program through the Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute. David later moved overseas to study with the University of Gothenburg in Sweden and Nord University in Norway, earning his M.S. in Sustainable Production and Utilization of Marine Bioresources while working with the IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute on oyster aquaculture and growth modelling.
When not at GMRI, David enjoys backpacking through the mountains of Maine, playing the guitar, and spending time on and in the water sailing or SCUBA diving.
