Chas Van Damme

Chas joined GMRI as an Offshore Wind Project Manager after graduating with a B.A. in Environmental Studies, focusing in Global Environmental Politics, from Bates College in 2023. In this role, he oversees the Offshore Wind Resource Hub, where he helps create resources and expands access to information for communities to meaningfully and equitably engage in the offshore wind development process in the Gulf of Maine.

With experience supporting research communications at Wolfe’s Neck Center for Agriculture & the Environment, a background in environmental stewardship, and various stints working as a carpenter throughout Midcoast Maine, he dedicates his work toward building community resilience in the face of changing times.

While not at work, you will most likely find Chas exploring the woods by foot, bike, or with long planks strapped to his feet.
