Drew Perlmutter

Drew joined GMRI in 2022 as a LabVenture Educator. Drew received her Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Ecology from Bates College.

After college, Drew worked as an elementary school educator at Chewonki where she witnessed the power of teaching students to build connections with their land through place-based education. After Chewonki, Drew spent one year as an elementary school science educator in New York City but quickly felt the call back to Maine. Prior to GMRI, Drew worked as an Invasive Aquatic Species Educator for the Lake Stewards of Maine. There, she traveled throughout Maine and taught hundreds of adults how to spot invasive aquatic species in their lakes in order to stop their spread. Now as a LabVenture Educator, Drew is eager to inspire students to become stewards for the Gulf of Maine by thinking like a scientist.

Drew is an artist in her free time and hopes to one day combine her passion for children’s scientific education with her love of art to create children’s books.
